Government of India is cajoling with system delaying tactics, as clemency plea of Afzal Guru is resting at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Home Ministry which is responsible in putting up the file at Rastrapati Bhawan is using all old Congress style tactics of delaying the decision for political benefit. UP elections are lined up, how can they ever allow such a crucial decision of ‘displeasing’ minority votes. So Afzal shall live, so is Kasab and in the party Madanis and Bittas will also get their reprieve.
I guess, banana republic wouldn’t be any different, going by the examples of Tamil Nadu state assembly resolution on clemency to Rajeev Gandhi assassination convicts, emulating an earlier disgrace for the Union of India by Kerala assembly resolution supporting Madani of Coimbtore bomb blast case, Punjab Chief Minister seeking intervention of PM for pardoning Bitta, a bomb blast accused, which killed 13 people; J&K Chief Minister went on Twitter spree asking would opposition be as muted if Jammu and Kashmir assembly had adopted similar resolution in support of Afzal Guru, had created stiff throughout the nation, later though that resolution introduced by an independent fell in the assembly.
It was in 2005 when issue of clemency to Coimbatore bomb blast accused Madani had come in Kerala state assembly which had passed it unanimously. Later, Tamil Nadu state legislative assembly adopting a unanimous resolution to repeal death penalty of three convicts of Rajeev Gandhi and 19 others murder in a bomb blast and Madras High Court ordering a stay on the death penalty on issues of the fact that it took 14 years to conclude that they be now hanged after sitting on their clemency petitions at Presidents office. And then came Prakash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab who had written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan singh urging him to intervene in the clemency petition of the Bitta who is awarded death penalty in case of bomb blast at AICC office which killed 13. So is Sonia Gandhi’s solo decision to ‘pardon’ Nalini, a convict in Rajeev Gandhi and others bomb blast murder case, is astonishing in the same line, since she took decision on other 19 people’s behalf.
In Kerala, it was CPI, CPIM and Congress unanimously resolving to give clemency to Abdul Naseer Madani. In Tamilnadu it is AIDMK, DMK and Again Congress supporting pardon to Murugan and two others in Rajeev Gandhi assassination case. In Punjab, it was SAD leader and Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal writing to PM to intervene in Bitta case and Congress leader Ex CM Amarender Singh singing to same tune.
New Delhi is facing a question of credibility, as examples like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, J&K state legislative assemblies and non-sense talk by State Chief Ministers of Punjab and J&K could trigger a negative feeling about the nation, at large. Matter though lies with the UPA and the Congress whether to have politics of principles or of national interest.

A phoenix called ‘Japan’!
How they survive-Phoenix like qualities as a nation community, Japan once rose from the ashes of nuclear havoc in Hiroshima and in Nagasaki, earthquake in Osaka, and now this triplet of nature’s fury on Japan which saw an earthquake followed by an unprecedented tsunami and catastrophic nuclear meltdown at Fukushima nuclear reactor.
Will Japan repeat that success story?
And now we have the answer that too in affirmative.
A nation which saw hundreds of thousand people die in seconds and millions suffer for some to multiple injuries with radiation effect traversing in generations. Economy crashed, war lost. Japan rose from disasters dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by American navy dropping atom bomb in august 1945. Made stories of new initiatives and saw a country, once down with the loss in WW-II, but with courage to fight back as a nation from the tragedy of the nuclear bomb-blast and crippling radiation to become world third biggest economy is evidence of sheer perseverance of the Japanese.
Japan is notoriously situated on the pacific ring of fire, a region of higher seismic and volcano activity. With this problem, Japan faces most numbers of earthquakes than any other major country on the planet, with an attitude to find a solution to the problem through technology; Japan remains religiously disciplined nation as it made its infrastructure to sustain earthquakes of high magnitudes. Japan today is leader in seismic safety technology for buildings, bridges to anything in infrastructure. This is an example of their dedication to find solution to the continuous natural threat.
Japan, alongside technology has made people aware of safety precautions with highest level of vigilance by masses in such natural disasters. Japan can be termed a nation which can calmly find solution of such natural disaster.
Even American media lauded public responsibility and discipline in everyday life, even in the days of disasters. People only took food items for one day so that food items at stores would be available for every individual, and in the meantime authorities can reinitiate supply of essential food items.
How Japan has found answer to the question posed in front of them in half-a-year ago is a matter of study.
Here is an sheer example of commitment of a Japanese, an Indian software engineer working in the capital city had ordered food item for home delivery, minutes before the massive earthquake hit Japan on March 11, and gentleman was amazed to have his food package delivered even after the Tokyo city shook with the earthquake of magnitude of 9 on Richter scale.
Roads were built within a week to connect northern region of the country, it was unpredictable to say if there were any earthquake or tsunami hit that place earlier.
People didn’t curse the fate or Mother Nature, but had demanded government to tell the truth, earlier. People believed that government knew that situation is not in control and they had concealed the fact.

It’s frustrating!!
It is frustrating, that nothing is being done; same speeches delivered, same excuses given, a serpent submission every time, opportunities ignored, personal and group benefits prior to nation for our national icons.
India is wounded, yet again. Delhi, the capital is hurt second time within five months, the very place is bombed on wednesday. But we are witness to these kind of lapses all through to youth-hood, shameful I feel, as we have generated this learned behavior of Chalta Hai – looking every terror attack akin to a loss in a cricket match; where none of our stalwarts batsmen are scoring, elusive bowling line is blunt, sloppy fielding is making the team pay, captain has lost confidence, lacking commitment and dedication to fight to win; isn’t it the same story with our terror fighting team- be it top leaders who seem aimless, administrators directionless, intelligence agencies careless, investigating agencies clueless, law enforcing powerless and the media hopeless – for showing how we adjust to almost anything and the much hyped ‘life goes on’ remarks which TV anchors make on following day of the attack.
Hope of people is shattered with every new incident, every time Team India loses (not for cricket) with nothing in kitty to return to perpetrators of terror, no one is questioned for the lapses, no one is held accountable. A few, who are made political scapegoats on high time, are either made Governors or sent to state to Centre and vice-versa a few months later; where is the accountability then.
Were people who shouted slogans against government on front of Rahul Gandhi and Gulam Nabi Azad are wrong, what our Prime Minister is waiting to happen that will make his government take serious step. Anna Hazare has shown this for fight against corruption, for this more Annas have to stand – for freedom, for nation, for people.
We cannot live fearing a bomb attack and not be in public places on Diwali, Dusherra, New Year, Republic day or on Independence Day. Was this the Nehru’s tryst with destiny, do we wish such destined future for our people.
People in centre have shown grief, touted same line to take action, but everybody now realizes this news is there in media for a couple of days and then lukewarm response of the government for terror will continue. We as a unit have failed to finish a terror case, one such Rajeev Gandhi’s assassination case is a matter of DMK & AIDMK politics over the issue of hanging of the convicts, Mumbai bomb blast’93 is in courts, Afzal and Kasab are waiting for a plane hijack, Government is playing communal politics by naming Hindu groups’ ‘involvement’ in many incidents yet on other hand not releasing Muslims accused and kept in judicial custody in those cases.
Where do we fail, part probably losing out on opportunities, Wikileaks says that India was not serious enough on Headley’s extradition. Our Home Minister says ‘we had information of attack in Delhi’ same was the argument given for the Javeri bazaar blast in Mumbai on July 13th, still we are sending soft signal to the wrong doer, that they shall live till they not get an ‘IC-814 Visa’. Pitfalls in investigations and matching that with case building to stand the test in a court of law, in India or anywhere is still a problem.
I know we have IB, RAW, MI (Military Intelligence), NIA, NSG and Marcos; yet we cannot emulate any success what Israel has done in fighting terror.

Pratishtha: Welcoming Devta Gudaru Sahib at the Darkhul

This Pratishtha of village deity to its erstwhile seat after a gap of almost year during with renovation of the old temple was going on with the Shramdan of the village. Which concluded with Devta Sahib Gudaru Diswani being re-affirmed to its sanctum on Darkhul (see pic: Darkhul, name of the temple building) on 6, 7 8 January 2009.
This festival witnessed thousands of devotees of Devta Sahib Gudaru Diswani gathered in Diswani village to celebrate the home in ceremony - Patishta of the Devta Sahib.

Whether Sharma or Verma
I always thought, what is the difference, whether my surname reads 'Sharma', 'Verma', 'Thakur', 'Kaundal' or 'Kohli'. As, I was also born with one such surname, today I realize that this is the only thing that distances, distinguishes, creates boundaries in the minds of people. In the whole history of India it has been by far the single largest obstacle to equality, love, brotherhood and togetherness of Indian society. Even today it still comes back to haunt us. Today, question to be asked from young generations, is it worth fighting that your name bears one such surname.
This was same place where we both (me and Bhawana) have spend our early childhood, studing in class (standard) Ist and IInd. This information acted as a password that I had entered, in her scrapbook, in my reply to her question, whether I had visited Arki or not? She confirmed it with asking that whether I am the same 'Chunnu', obviously my nick name. I asked her whether she is same 'billi ki jaisi aanko wali (cat eyed) Bhanu', both answers replied in affirmative.
Today, I feel that how wonderful it would be if we were the same 'Chunnu' and 'Bhanu'. For whom it doesn't mattered what our last name reads. But what was important to us was to study, play and enjoy our childhood togather, But now a lot waters has passed below the bridges. Now, unlike that childhood memories both of us have our surnames, whether 'Sharma' or 'Verma'.
A few days ago, I met my school time buddy named Bhawna on net, and social networking group Orkut became the media to search each-other. After finding that somebody named 'Bhawana........' has visited my profile, I visited her's profile. Later I found that she had scrapped me asking whether i have visited Arki, a small town in Himachal Pradesh. I replied that I had been to Arki a few months ago, that too after a long time, but I have studied at Doomehar a nearby town during my childhood.
